According to readings given by Edgar Cayce the body completely renews itself in 7-year cycles. The liver and spleen renew themselves almost seven times in those 7 years. Who is doing the renewing, one might ask ?! Do you know how to do that ?
The readings also state that the patterns of thought (habitual thoughts) in place now are either blocking or helping our health. The readings go on to state that if we set to work on changing these patterns a complete change in our state of mind takes 7 years. Is that a coincidence ? I don't know, but I've long liked the saying that "there's no such thing as coincidence."
We can take a little look at the connections between the mind and body. Obviously the mind operates through the body. To manifest a thought you need the cooperation of the body. You can't build a house by staring at the plan. To manifest emotion you need the cooperation of the body. You can't laugh without your respiratory/abdominal muscles convulsing. Bill Palmer of Movement Shiatsu gave a wonderful definition of the meridians (bio-energy pathways in TCM) as "the pathways through which the mind learns to inhabit the body." Through all this we can start to see just how closely connected the mind and physical body are.
We clearly need to be patient when working on changing a deeply ingrained habit. A deeply ingrained assumption. But we know it can be changed. We can also be appreciative of our body totally renewing itself every 7 years. If we can totally transform our state of mind in 7 years and our body also renews itself completely in 7 year cycles then just try imagining the state of health you could be experiencing if you've managed to manifest a state of mind that is helping your health instead of blocking it. We could also ask that is the body, in essence, already perfectly healthy (as evidenced by its total renewal of itself every 7 years), and the only thing preventing that health from fully manifesting is negative, destructive false belief ?
